Title: India and Italy 2016-2017 - Exchanging heritage and culture
Description
In 2015 the Asia - Europe project was
conceived, for school year 2015-2016, as a collaboration
among Italy and India. Liceo Classico Plauto - Rome -
Italy and the two sister schools named St.Marks
Girls Sr. Secondary School - New Delhi - India agreed on a project which
would enable students to know more of each other's country through
constructive peer work, internet research, collaborative learning and
flipped classroom strategies which would make lessons more lively and
project products fun to create.
In 2016-2017 another
Asia-Europe project has been planned as a continuation of the
interactive work which has deeply stimulated students' interest.
Objectives
- Promoting cooperation and
friendship on common values also through a deeper knowledge of the different cultures;

Reinforcing knowledge of English as a vehicular language and
acquisition of some words of the language of the partner country
(Italian and Hindi);
- Deepening competence in the use of ICT;
- Increasing awareness and interest in similarities and differences;
- Reinforcing knowledge about the partner country's capital city monuments and artistic heritage
Method
Choice of theme, peer work organizing, group forming, definition of tasks, activity
development, monitoring, evaluation and publication of the work online
on a common, dedicated website, enhancement of the validity of the
digital resource and of innovative approaches such as flipped classroom strategies, BYOD method and collaborative work.
Impact foreseen
Reinforcing
identities and knowledge of similarities and differences among
individuals also through a better knowledge of the architectural heritage and culture of
the
partner country, of English as the vehicular language, of ICT
abilities,enhancement of the students’ awareness of the importance of
exercising an active citizenship. Knowledge of elements of copyright and
privacy laws. Dissemination through
dialogue and publishing on website, diffusion among the students and
teachers of the whole school, of the local community, of parents and
relatives.
Products
Students
will select material concerning the architectural heritage and culture of their country and especially of their city,
will take digital photos and/or will draw producing
authentic material which will be exchanged through ICT with the
partners after having arranged it in posters and/or ppts in English as the vehicular
language, with some reference to both Indian and Italian languages.
Other products will be drawings and/or short essays
production and/or ppts or mini-movies and/or interviews on the theme and/or short mini-lectures and
debates in class made in the vehicular language (English), posters class
exhibitions, websites
producing.
